UTC Aerospace Systems to supply wheels and brakes for HNA Aviation's new A320neo fleet

Jul 12, 2016

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has been selected by Hainan Aviation Group Co., Ltd. (HNA Aviation) to supply the wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of A320neo aircraft. The selection makes HNA Aviation the sixth A320ceo customer to change its wheels and brakes supplier from the competition to UTC Aerospace Systems for its A320neo fleet.

"HNA Aviation's selection of our wheels and brakes for its A320neo fleet demonstrates their confidence in our product innovation and customer support.  We're delighted to add HNA Aviation to the growing list of A320 customers currently operating the competitor's equipment that have chosen us to equip their future A320 aircraft deliveries," said Cory May, vice president of airline sales, Landing Systems, a business unit of UTC Aerospace Systems. "We are proud to expand our existing relationship with this valued customer."

UTC Aerospace Systems' A320neo carbon brakes use proprietary DURACARB® carbon heat sink material. DURACARB® carbon provides exceptional brake performance and a 35 to 40 percent brake life advantage over the competition's products. The company will provide the wheels and brakes equipment through its Landing Systems facility in Troy, Ohio.

"During our long-term relationship, UTC Aerospace Systems has provided industry-leading products and customer support. We are counting on superior brake life and reduced maintenance costs for the A320neo fleet," said Howard Wang, executive director, Fleet Development Center, HNA Aviation.

HNA Aviation, the core subsidiary of HNA Group Co., Ltd., is headquartered in Haikou City, Hainan province, in the People's Republic of China and will take delivery of its first A320neo aircraft in late 2016. The member airlines of HNA Aviation fly nearly 80 million passengers annually on nearly 700 routes to more than 200 destinations in China and around the world.  It operates and manages Hainan Airlines, the fourth largest airline in China, Beijing Capital Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Lucky Air, West Air, Fuzhou Airlines, Urumqi Air, Beibu Gulf Air, Yangtze River Airlines, myCargo, my TECHNIC, Africa World Airlines, Australia International Aviation College, and Swissport etc.
